For God has not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound

mind.

Fear is a feeling that every human faces. We fear the future, failing, our past,
relationship, and so much more. I was a slave to fear for eight years. I walked
crippled, scared to speak, and scared to face the giants ahead of me. Satan had
me bound in shackles. Have you ever feared the unknown or feared the giants
in front of you? You are not alone! In fact, I have good news, Jerimiah 29:11 tells
us “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord.” This is a promise
to us that He already knows our future and everything we will face. So the
question still remains, Why do we struggle with fear? The answer is there is an
enemy named Satan who is out to steal, kill, and destroy us. (John 10:10) He
wants us to be bound in fear so that we are hindered to walk in God’s calling for
our lives. You may be asking, how do I break free from fear? Isaiah 41:10
reassures us that we do not need to be afraid or dismayed because He is with
us. He gives us strength and walks with us and protects us when we face
obstacles. This reminds me of the story in Matthew 14 when Peter and the
disciples where in a boat during a harsh storm. The disciples saw what looked
like a ghost walking on water towards them, and they were terrified and filled
with fear. Then Jesus spoke saying, Fear not, for I am with you. Peter asked
Jesus, if it was really Him to ask him to come out and walk on the water. Peter
had his eyes on Jesus until he was distracted by the waves of the sea and the
harsh winds. Fear filled Peter’s heart and he began to drown, yet Peter shouted
“Lord, save me! Jesus reached down and picked Peter up and placed him back
on the water. Jesus walked Peter through the storm and got in the boat with
him. What a powerful story! When we are filled with fear and begin to drown,
shout out to the Lord for help and He will be right there to pull you out and
plant you back on the firm foundation.

  1. I loved the post, I have prayed this scripture so many times, when i’ve faced a trial, or an obstacle that seemed impossible, god has never failed me. God has given me that promise also, for a hope and a future. Thank you for sharing, it blessed my heart.
